So You Want to Be a Promoter?

Last Updated: 4 - 10 -18

I am always happy to consider promoters!  I do not have a specific target audience therefore I’m willing to accept promoters with a variety of styles, themes, ages, etc.  There is no specific type of person (beyond trustworthy, respectful, and eager) that I am looking for c:  Anyone is welcome to discuss a promotional position with me!  If you’re interested in promoting me, contact me!

Consider our exchange of messages to be a sort of interview, and make sure to be relatively professional.  Let me know what you have to offer me and what makes you think you’re best suited for the position.  I look forward to hearing from you!

I do not currently have any promoters, but I am on the look out for interested parties!

Requirements
» REQUIREMENTS «

You must be at least 18+ years old to be considered for the position.  If you are 17 or younger but would still like to promote me, please seek the permission of your parent/guardian, of whom will accept legal responsibility for you and can vouge for your crediblity and professionalism.  I will need their written consent prior to accepting you as a promoter.

You must live within North America (USA or Canada) to be considered for the position.  If you live internationally but are keen on promoting me, feel free to contact me if you are willing and able to pay shipping and handling costs.

You must have purchased something from me in the past, a minimum of a single product of any type, making a purchase worth $15+ (not including shipping).  This is in order to build trust on both of our ends before entering a business relationship.  It shows me that you are a real person with the ability and interest enough in my work to purchase it (which makes me feel more comfortable giving you all the benefits I do), and it gives you a chance to see how I treat my customers, to get my wares as they're packaged for regular customers, etc.  It gives you the opportunity to see and use my wares for yourself and make your own personal judgments regarding their quality and value on a personal level, and an un-biased perspective of my professionalism and services towards regular customers.  Most importantly, this gives you the chance to decide if I am still as worth promoting as you'd hoped.

Currently these are the only requirements I have, but this is subject to change as I gain more experience working with different individuals.

Benefits
» BENEFITS Â«

As a “thank you” for promoting me, I will provide you with a one-time-use discount code for you to receive your first promotional product for 50% off.  Feel free to pick a product I'm already selling in my shop or to purchase a custom product; it's up to you. This one-time-use discount code will expire a month after it's given to you.  Until you review and promote your first promotional product, however, you will not receive further benefits.

Once you review your first product, you will be asked to create a custom memorable coupon code to share with your followers.  This discount code must be between 1-20 characters, must include the number 10 in it, and must be clearly related to you in some fashion.  This code will be for 10% off any purchases worth $10 or more in my shop, and will expire a year following it’s creation.

Additionally you will receive a private coupon code for 30% off which will be considered your employee discount should you decide to buy additional products for private use.  This specific discount code is for you and you only, and is not to be shared.  The products you buy with it can be for private use only, or you can use them as additional promotional tools - it’s up to you!  This employee discount code will expire on the same date as your promotional/follower 10% off code.

A more fluid bonus of being a promoter is that you may occasionally be sent free products to test for quality purposes before I start to sell them, that way I can get more insight into how to make products higher quality, more durable, easier to use, etc. and you get fun, free things every now and again!  How often I send you these free products and how nice these free products are depends on how frequently I need feedback, how often you promote me/how much business you generate for me, and how well our working relationship is.  In short, the more you promote my shop, the more likely you are to receive free things to review and help me improve!

Lastly, I will add your name to the list above and the list in my etsy shop announcement with a primary link back to you, as well as share a picture of your choice of you on my instagram with a kindly welcoming message as some exposure for you, and also so that both of our followers know that we have agreed to work together.  If you choose to model my products, I will repost some of your modeled pictures (we will work out the details of my reposts on a case-by-case basis) to continue to support our business relationship and give you more exposure.

Expectations
» EXPECTATIONS «

For the following section of my ToS Specifically, by agreeing to work with me as a promoter, you automatically legally agree to the following terms and conditions.  As proof of this legal binding, your name along with a primary link(s) will be included to the list of my Promoters above.  You refers to general you, assuming the reader is the [potential] promoter in question.

You are promised the above stated benefits in exchange for promoting my work, and most importantly, my etsy shop, according to the specifications stated below.

I set every coupon code relevant to my promoters to expire a year after their creation.  Therefore, you and I will agree to work together for a maximum of a year starting the date I add you to my list of promoters and ending the date your promotional/follower & “employee discount” coupon codes expire.  If you are interested in being my promoter for longer than a year, you can renew your contract by discussing with me around the time of this expiration.

You are required to, at a bare minimum, make a monthly public post relevant to me/my work/my etsy shop/etc., but it is highly recommended and preferred that you advertise more if and when you are able.  No matter when or where you mention my work, you will be expected to provide all of the following information in an appropriate location (i.e. the description/caption, etc.):

The method of which you advertise is completely up to you, but there are a couple of ground rules…

  • Do not lie about myself and/or my work in a way that misleads your/my followers into believing falsehoods about myself and/or my work.  I don’t care if your lies help/hurt my business, they are still lies in the end, and I value honesty.

  • Do not be disrespectful to yourself, myself, and/or our followers.  By promoting me, you are the face of my business and I cannot have people making my business look bad.

  • Do not anti-promote my work..  Details and clarification concerning anti-promotion is below.  This is a grave offense and if I find out you have broken this rule, I will publicly state your actions to warn others off from associating with you in addition to the below stated repercussions.

  • Do not publicly or Privately share your 30% employee discount code, abuse any discount codes you receive for promotional/private use, or otherwise attempt to steal from/financially hurt my business.  These are grave offenses.  If I find out that you have broken this rule, I will report you to etsy staff as a thief and publicly state your actions to warn others off from associating with you in addition to the below stated repercussions.

I am allowed to change, alter, remove, or add anything to this contract at any time and you are still legally required to respect it and know it, even if you choose not to read it when I inform you of revisions.

END OF CONTRACT // BREAKING CONTRACT // QUITTING

What happens if I decided to quit, get fired, and/or my contract ends?

Shortly before your contract is up, I will message you asking if you'd like to renew your contract.  If you choose not to renew, then I will inform you when your benefits will end so that you can utilize them before they run out and can inform your followers of when your promotional discount expires.  Then, when these benefits expire they will not be renewed, they will simply be deleted.  I will make a goodbye post publicly addressing the end of our business relationship and giving you a final bit of exposure to see you off as a thanks for working with me.  If you ever choose to come back, I would be more than happy to work with you again!

Should you choose to quit before the year is up, it is expected that you give a respectful amount of notice, preferably 2 weeks notice or longer.  From there, I will set your benefits to expire for the end of our business relationship, and assuming your reasons for quitting are reasonable and you quit in as respectful of a manner as possible, we will treat it the same as the ending of your contract.  If you quit without notice, it will more likely than not be treated as if you broke contract/were fired unless you have justified reasons for ending our working relationship so suddenly.  Quitting without notice for justified reasons will still receive a goodbye posting, but if you have purchased any products with your employee discount code that have yet to be shipped*, you will either be offered the choice to either pay full price to receive them or you'll receive a refund and the rights to the product will be forfeit to me (meaning I can keep, alter, resell, etc. the product at my discretion); if you don't inform me of your decision within a week of quitting, I will simply refund you and thereby receive full rights to the product.

Should you break contract (i.e. be fired), your promotional benefits will immediately be cut off, your name will be removed from my list, any mutual promotion I may have potentially offered you will likely be deleted/removed at my discretion, and (should the case be extreme enough) you will be added to a blacklist and will no longer be allowed to affiliate with me indefinitely (again, at my discretion).  If you have purchased any products with your employee discount that have yet to be shipped, you'll receive a refund and the rights to the product will be forfeit to me (meaning I can keep, alter, resell, etc. the product at my discretion).  Should I choose to resell the product, you can purchase it at full price via my etsy.

*Your employee discount still applies to any un-shipped products that you bought only if they have exceeded the 1-2 week shipping and handling timeframe promised via my etsy before you quitting (this detail does not apply to custom commissions/products, nor breaking contract/getting fired).

ANTI-PROMOTION

What is anti-promotion?

Anti-promotion is when someone abuses their promotional powers in order to hurt my business instead of help it.  An anti-promoter is someone who buys my products for cheap with their promoter discounts exclusively for nefarious purposes, such as but not limited to:

  • purely to harass me/give me a bad review on etsy even if it's all lies

  • preventing others from buying/enjoying said product

  • to prevent me from getting the full price for it

  • to waste the time and energy that goes into the product and therefore prevent me from making/selling other products with that wasted time and energy

  • to stir up drama/controversy pertaining to myself, my shop, and/or my work

  • and/or to destory it.

Am I not allowed to give you negative reviews then?  Is that anti-promotion?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not perfect, and so I don't want you to lie or pretend that I am.  Not to mention I need constructive critique if I am to improve my work - I can't fix a problem if I don't know it exists.  Therefore you are absolutely allowed to make a bad review if you feel the need, though naturally I would respectfully request that you first let me know privately of any concerns you have to allow me the opporunity to make things right prior to discussing the chain of events and product quality with the public.  This is to allow the public to get the whole story and judge appropriately with all the information, as opposed to just assuming I am unaware of product problems and/or unwilling/unable to solve them.

What is the difference between a poor review and anti-promotion?

Bad reviews are clear about what makes a product undesirable/what someone specifically didn't like, and/or what I could do to make my future works and/or service better.  I'm bound to get those every once in a while.  I expect and appreciate them as much as I appreciate good ones.  Anti-promotion, however,  is an abuse of power; it involves only making negative reviews (or nearly always doing so) in a malicious way.  An anti-promoter doesn't actually use and/or enjoy my products, and generally just has little to nothing good to say about myself, my work, and/or my shop because they're out to get me for whatever reason.  Frequently giving me constucive criticism alongside your compliments/praise of my work just because you're good at it and/or want me to improve doesn't make you an anti-promoter.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to working with you!

Have a wonderful day starchild!
