Comfort Crafts

What I refer to as comfort crafts are a series of simple comfort-based crafts including one of a kind Pillows, Pillow Cases, Blankets, and Pet Beds.  My pillows and pillow cases vary in sizes from small throw pillows to large body pillows.  The blankets I make are usually best suited for curling up on the couch with a good book or putting on top of your comforter on those colder nights for an added bit of warmth.  Pet beds are always made with the pet's comfort in mind, typically made with recycled bedding materials to give your pets the best quality at a more reasonable price.  Each one is handmade, machine washable, and one of a kind.

Payment

Please see my ToS, more particularly the Payment Information section for more detailed information.

Each Comfort Craft has a range of prices dependent upon it's size, the quality of it's material, and the time and energy it will take me to sew it.  All Comfort Crafts take between a few hours minimum to a week maximum to complete, more often than not leaning toward's a day or two's worth of work.  Each piece is machine washable unless otherwise noted, and comes with a warranty.  I primarily use inches when I’m measuring, so centemetre amounts are rather rough {1in = roughly 2.5cm}.

I require full payment up front in most situations, but if you’re uncomfortable doing so there is another, less preferred option: As long as you’re paying in USD, you can pay a 40% non-refundable down payment, and the rest upon completion.

Payment Plans - for projects that cost more than $100 I am willing to work out a payment plan with you.  You’ll first have to pay a non-refundable down payment equivalent to 30% of the full price in order for me to begin to work on your commission.  You will be expected to pay in installments of which the amount (min of 10% of the total cost) and frequency (either weekly or biweekly) will be discussed on a case by case basis.  Should you ever fail to make your payments, you will receive a partial refund equal to what you’ve paid thus far (minus the non-refundable down payment) and you will lose all rights to the piece.

Refunds and Repairs - You are entitled to a full refund if the commission/product breaks and/or is severely damaged due to a craftsmanship error on my part, though I am always more than happy to make any and all attempts to fix/replace products as an alternative to a refund.

Pillows & Pillow Cases

Pillows and Pillow Cases come in a few standard sizes based on the most common average sizes of pillows.  If you have a particular, odd-sized pillow that you'd like a case made for or you want me to make a pillow with unique measurements, however, I am happy to accommodate.  All of my pillow sizes are based on square and rectangular sizes.  Circular and cylindrical pillows are considered specialty, just like any other particular set of measurements.  Keep in mind that these prices are only starting, base prices, and from here it increases depending upon complexity.

SPECIALTY

Specialty pillows and pillow cases start at the same price as whatever base sizes are closest.  The only odd-shaped pillow cases I can make are round/oval, cylindrical, and half-circle.  Pillows themselves, however, can be made in a much wider variety of geometric shapes including but not limited to stars, hearts, and triangles.

Blankets

Blankets have a few basic sizes based on common blanket sizes and bedding.  All blankets are sewn and not quilted, as I am currently unfamiliar with quilting and quilting techniques.  Blankets don't necessarily have to be used as blankets, either.  While they're made with that intent, these blankets could also double as table-cloths or tapestries if you'd rather use them for display purposes.  All of my blankets are based on square and rectangular sizes.  Any other odd shapes or sizes are considered specialty.

SPECIALTY

Specialty blankets start at the same price as whatever base is closest to its measurements.  I can make a wide variety of odd geometric shapes as well, if a non-rectangular blanket is something you're interested in.

Pet Beds

As a default, all pet beds are thickly stuffed to offer a solid, yet comfortable base for your animal companion.  Just like all the other comfort crafts, pet beds come in a variety of sizes.  Sizes are based on average sizes for pet beds for the mentioned pets and/or sizes of pets, but can be made in different sizes upon request as well.  There are 3 major types of pet beds, and all of them are square or rectangular in shape; other geometric shapes are considered specialty, just like odd-sized ones.  To describe the sizes of pets the bed sizes best fit, I use pounds, so kilogram amounts are rather rough (1 kg = 2.2 lbs) and for the actual sizes, I use inches, so centimeter amounts are also rough (1 in - 2.5 cm).

Extras

The following are decorative/functional add-ons that will increase the price of your pillow or pillow-case.  If you'd like something added, these add the following additional prices to the base prices stated above.  Note that I do not always have these types of things in stock, and the prices below are subject to increasing to pay for material costs if I don't have something in stock.

Patches (prices vary)

Prices depend on how big the patch is, whether or not I have the type of patch you're looking for in stock or not, and if you're wanting a basic fabric patch or a patch of an image.  Patches can be placed wherever you'd prefer.

Trimming (prices vary)

Costs depends entirely on material costs of trimming.  Trim can be added to the edges of the blanket, around the edges of a patch to add a frame, or whatever place you'd prefer.  I have many trim options, such as but not limited to lace, faux fur, or pom poms.

Zipper $1 - $10

Price purely depends on the length of the zipper.  Color, unless otherwise requested, will match the pillow or pillow case as close as possible.  Comes with 2 options: regular or invisible.

Memory Foam 50% of the base price

Instead of using stuffing, the bed will be made using a block of memory foam.  Memory foam options are particularly suggested for older dogs and/or dogs with joint problems.  Memory foam blocks themselves are not machine washable, so these beds come with an added zipper or Velcro opening (your choice between the two) to allow the outer fabric to still be machine washable.  As a result, the framed option is not available for memory foam beds.  See care guide for more information on taking care of the memory foam.

Handles $5 or less per pair

Handles can help add a level of convenience to your pet's new bed, and are particularly useful for pet beds that are going to be hung like hammocks (recommended only for smaller animals like ferrets, rats, snakes, or birds and not suggested for any memory foam beds) or beds that will be frequently moved around, like vacation beds.  They are typically made using parachord, pleather, or similar thick and strong materials to keep them sturdy.

FLOOR PILLOW

Essentially as it's described, a pillow to put on the floor for your beloved pet.  Very basic, priced at the same basic prices listed to the far right.

FRAMED

This bed is much like the floor pillow option, but with a "frame" being sewn into it to give it a faux border.  It's default is 1/4 of the way into the bed.  The price is the same as the base prices plus a small fee of 5% of the base cost for the sewn framing.

BORDERED

Starts as a floor bed, but has another cylindrical thickly-stuffed pillow sewn around the border of the bed.  The price is the same as the base prices plus a fee of $5 per foot (12in) of border.

SPECIALTY

Specialty pet beds start at the same price as whatever base sizes are closest.  Currently I can't make hooded pet beds; in other words, I can't make pet beds that look like a small den or have a hood atop it.  I'm working on making this an option.

Comfort Crafts Warranty

This section is considered an extension of my ToS and applies in the appropriate legal situations.

The terms "Comfort Craft" and "craft" apply for all pillows, pillow cases, blankets, and pet beds.  If I refer to anything specific not including the others, I will refer to it specifically.  All of my comfort crafts, so long as they are purchased directly through me (be that via my etsy shop, personally, via commission, at a convention, or another method) come with a warranty.  Pillow Cases and Blankets come with a 6 month warranty.  Pillows and Pet Beds come with a 4 month warranty.

If within the prior stated time limit starting the day you receive your comfort craft [in the mail] for reasons outside of your control your comfort craft develops large tears or begins to completely unravel, then you are guaranteed a full refund or a completely free repair/remake of your comfort craft.

For a year after you receive your purchase, you are entitled to free minor and semi-minor repairs on your comfort crafts (as in damages I can fix in less time than it took me to make the craft in the first place).  For all future repairs, if your comfort craft has suffered major damage but is repairable, I will only charge you a small fee to cover material costs.  If it is irreparable/ruined or nearly there, I will gladly offer you a remake of your craft at a discounted price (to be discussed on a case by case basis).  If you’re not sure if your craft's repair needs are considered minor or not, send me pictures and I will gladly give you a quote (assuming it’s not free, anyway) and/or all the details I can about how to repair your comfort craft yourself so you can decide if you’d like to send it to me or repair it on your own.  This entire paragraph does not include shipping and handling costs, of which under any repair/remake-related circumstances, I will cover S&H when sending your comfort craft back to you so long as you cover S&H when sending it to me for repairs.  If you live outside of North America, you are responsible for all S&H fees.  I do not have a set time limit for how quickly I can repair your comfort craft though I will certainly do my best to repair it within a reasonable time; rush fees may apply if you need it fixed by a certain time (see ToS for further details on rushed repairs/commissions).  Once the year is done, I am still happily willing and able to repair/remake your damaged comfort crafts, but fees (by which the specifics thereof will be discussed and agreed upon on a case by case basis depending on severity of the damages) for my time and services will apply.

This warranty only applies to damages caused by [nearly] unavoidable, reasonable wear and tear on account of time and frequent use.  The only other damages this warranty covers are easily/semi-easily repairable damages (as in damages I can fix in less time than it took me to make the craft in the first place) caused by small accidents and/or reversing my own potential human errors.  It does not cover damages caused by complete recklessness on your part/failure to use common sense, such as but not limited to you not following my care information stated below, theft by a third party, or destruction by yourself and/or a third party.  The term “third party” also refers to the postal service; if your comfort craft is shipped to you in a destroyed/damaged package that effects the quality of your comfort craft within, please take that up with the postal service first and foremost, then me secondly to see what I am willing and able to do for you to remedy the unfortunate situation.

Any alterations (that aren’t made by myself) to the creation voids this warranty.  Damages (particularly ones I can do little to nothing about) caused by actions/events/etc. that are explicitly covered in the Care Guide and caused only by you not following it are not covered by this warranty.

Care Guide

My comfort crafts are expected to last a year or longer so long as they are taken care of appropriately.

Whenever the words "unless otherwise stated" are said, this refers to a conflicting statement within the description of the product online where it's for sale, in a separated note in the same box your comfort craft is shipped in, and/or upon the tag of the craft itself.

All of them are made to be machine washable, unless otherwise stated.  All comfort crafts are made to be able to withstand regular washing.  What this means more specifically is that pillow cases and blankets are expected to withstand being washed once a day maximum, while pillows and pet beds are made to be washed twice a week maximum, unless otherwise stated.  Pet beds made with memory foam are never machine washable, which is why they are made with a zipper or Velcro so that the memory foam block itself is removable.

To wash the memory foam block itself, start by removing it from the outer fabric casing (which is machine washable unless otherwise stated) and follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Get your vacuum, and using the soft brush attachment, vacuum in circular motions to remove any debris, hair/pet fur, dust, etc.  Don't forget to clean the other side!  Step 2:  Fill a spray bottle with one part detergent and two parts warm water, specifically using a delicate detergent such as those used for hand washing. Spray the whole thing.  Don't soak it, but spray across the whole surface once, maybe twice, while keeping the bottle in motion.  Again, don't forget to clean the other side!  Step 3: Let it dry completely for at least 24 hours, then vacuum up any detergent/cleaner residue and pop it back in its fabric case.  You're good to go!

If you have a stain you want to get out, do the following in between steps 1 and 2: Blot the stain with water, then sprinkle boric acid on it.  Keep blotting water on it until the stain is gone.  If the stain is caused by pet urine or vomit that's soaked through, try an enzymatic pet stain cleaner.  Apply the cleaner, and let it sit for 15 minutes or so.  Alternatively, hydrogen peroxide will also work (just note that this may discolor the foam, but this shouldn't be a problem as it will be hidden in the fabric casing).  After spot cleaning the stains, blot the area again with a damp sponge and let it dry completely.  Vacuum away any remnants of the cleaner before continuing.

If you have any odors you want to get out, do the following between steps 1 and 2; if you have any stains accompanying the odor, do this step after the stain removal step: Sprinkle the foam with baking soda and let it sit overnight/for at least 8 hours, then vacuum the baking soda off.  Alternatively, citrus-based cleaning products or products specifically designed for eliminating odors sprinkled on or sprayed on the same way as described in step 2 will also work.

If your memory foam pet bed has gotten wet, immediately remove it from it's outer fabric casing, squeeze out as much liquid as you reasonably can (in a bathtub, shower, or equally efficient drain), and let it dry completely before cleaning it and/or putting it back into it's fabric case.

Unless otherwise stated, my comfort crafts are no more water proof than your own clothes.  Don't let wet/soaked comfort crafts sit, or they could potentially develop mildew or other, similar problems, all of which void your warranty.

Pillows and pet beds (without memory foam) that are used frequently may potentially flatten over time; simply fluffing them should help keep them comfortably softened, but the more frequently used they are, the flatter they may become.  This issue is not covered by warranty, but is easily repairable.  Your comfort craft can be sent back and for a small fee, I can add more stuffing, or I can teach you how to easily add more stuffing of your own if you'd prefer.

Depending on the material your comfort craft is made of, it may potentially pill up with frequent use.  If your product develops pills, follow any of the variety of tips on this wikihow called "3 Ways to Remove Pilling from Clothing."  These tips work just as well for my comfort crafts as it does for any clothes that pill as well!

If you need repairs on your comfort craft - minor or major - then let me know as soon as is reasonably possible.  The sooner you inform me, the easier repairing the craft will be, and the faster we can address and solve the problem so that we can avoid recreating the problem in the future, both personally and for my future customers.

All comfort crafts are not made to be toys for any pets, and are not safe for pets to chew on/use as chew toys.  This includes the pet beds, which are not made to be chewed on by pets, only laid upon.  Some comfort crafts are made with small parts (such as zippers) which are a choking hazard.  Use common sense when using them around youth and animals, both for their safety and to lengthen the life of your crafts.  Damages caused by pets/children chewing on comfort crafts are only covered by warranty at my discretion.

Warranty
Care Guide

Widths for Tiny - Medium beds are 4 in (10cm) while Large and Extra Large beds are 6 in (15cm).  Can be decreased for free upon request.  Increasing width costs $1 per inch up until 10 in (25cm) where it becomes specialty.  Note: Stuffing will increase the exact width of all pet beds; stated width measurements are purely for the un-stuffed fabric casing of the pet bed prior to stuffing.
